About John Powell

John Powell is a man of faith, a proud North Carolinian, and a lifelong conservative. He’s a small businessman, real estate broker, and trusted community leader who knows what it means to roll up his sleeves and get to work.

Raised with a strong belief in service and responsibility, John earned his business degree from Appalachian State University and went on to build a career rooted in entrepreneurship and community investment. As the founder of Powell Real Estate Services, he’s helped families and businesses across Union, Anson, Mecklenburg, and Iredell Counties navigate some of life’s biggest decisions.

Whether working to revitalize neighborhoods or standing up for property owners, John has always fought for common-sense solutions and local values. His work once secured one of the largest private improvement grants ever awarded by the City of Charlotte — not for politics, but to strengthen the community.

After 20 years as a certified general real estate appraiser, John chose to retire that license so he could focus full-time on the people and priorities that matter most — defending faith, family, and freedom in his community.

John lives in Monroe, where he continues to run his real estate business, serve his neighbors, and stay rooted in the values that guide every decision he makes. He’s a member of Central Church, attending the 8:30 service, then attends then 11:00 service at Lee Park Church. John believes servant leadership starts with showing up - and then following through.
