Representative Mark Brody Announces Decision Not to Seek Re-Election

July 9, 2025 - 5:50 PM MONROE, N.C. - Representative Mark Brody, serving District 55 in the North Carolina House since 2012, announced today that he will not seek re-election.

“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve the people of Union and Anson Counties in the North Carolina General Assembly,” said Brody. “I am deeply grateful to the voters who placed their trust in me and allowed me to represent them in Raleigh.”

His decision not to seek another term is grounded in a personal and heartfelt reason. Brody’s wife of 50 years has been facing health challenges in recent months, and the representative shared that his priority now is to be by her side.

“My wife has stood beside me through every campaign, every vote, and every long day of public service,” he said. “Now it is my turn to stand beside her. Family is everything, and I know our community will understand this choice.”

Rep. Brody confirmed that he intends to serve out the remainder of his current term, which ends in December 2026, ensuring continuity and support for his constituents through the legislative calendar.

“Thank you again for allowing me to serve. It has been a privilege and a joy, and I will carry the stories, challenges, and triumphs of my time in office with me always.”
