I have never stopped working behind the scenes and staying involved with Republican politics for more than 20 years.
When I moved to Monroe in March 2022, I was asked if I actually wanted NC House Seat 55!
My reply was no, I believe anyone who runs for office should become a part of the community first, understand the economics, political landscape, and most importantly, the needs of the community. I stated "give me two or three years, then let's seriously address this situation". I've never taken running for office and serving the people lightly.
Let’s fast-forward to July 13, 2024 – the day candidate (and now President-Elect) Donald J. Trump was shot. This angered me. I prayed asking God to protect Donald J. Trump, and asked Him what I can do, and how I can serve.
On Sunday, July 22, 2024, while attending the 8:30 am church service at Central Church in Charlotte, a portion of Senior Pastor Loran’s message was very clear. “I think it is wrong to endorse from the pulpit, but I think it is a godly thing to get involved … If God has called you into government, you go do it”. Then, as I do each Sunday, I attended Lee Park Church in Monroe at the 11:00 am service. I spoke with Senior Pastor Chris Justice asking him his thoughts after sharing what Pastor Livingston said. Pastor Justice agreed.
Continuous praying, and listening to both Pastors - That hit me right between the eyes. I was motivated even further to consider serving.
I attended the Trump rally in Charlotte on July 25, 2024. After speaking with so many people, including but not limited to NC House Speaker (now the US 14th Congressman) Tim Moore, US 8th Congressional Candidate (and now) US 8th Congressman Mark Harris, and former US 8th Congressional District Congressman / former NC Attorney General Candidate, and now Deputy Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget Dan Bishop. These three gentlemen, plus other elected officials, encouraged my decision to lead and serve the public. I never forgot the conversation Representative Mark Brody and I had when I first moved to Monroe. It was "time to act" and "time to call" Representative Brody. I shared my thoughts and talked about the well-being of the NC House District 55. I listened to Representative Brody and his Legislative Assistant, Neva Brody-Helms.
In August of 2024, I made these intentions of serving known to the Anson County GOP Chair Sandra Ossanna, the Union County GOP Chair Allison Powers, and Chairman John Steward of the 8th Congressional District in July 2024. In addition to those mentioned, I have spoken with the current legislators serving Anson County and Union County - NC Senator Todd Johnson, District 35 (Cabarrus, Union), NC Senator David Craven, District 29 (Anson, Montgomery, Randolph, Richmond, Union), NC House Representative Dean Arp, District 69 (Union) and NC House Representative David Willis, District 68 (Union). It's amazing how much help and support I am receiving from those living and working in Anson County and Union County.
My goal continues to "learn and be prepared". Since October 2024, I have attended the monthly NC General Assembly sessions and have met with both House and Senate leaders from across the state. I was extended "floor privileges" by Speaker Tim Moore to sit on the chamber floor during the 2024 NCGA sessions, and by Speaker Destin Hall in 2025.
To this day, I travel to the NCGA in Raleigh, connecting with old friends and making new friends in both chambers, and building relationships.
On June 19, 2025, I was invited by Mr. Reid Helms, President of the Union County Crime Stoppers Organization, to announce my intentions at our monthly luncheon. In a full room of local leaders and politicians, I was honored to announce my plans to serve the constituents of NC House District 55.
On July 10, 2025, our current NC House Representative declared he was not seeking re-election.
I am a proactive, not reactive man. If it is God's plan, I plan to serve NC House District 55. Now is the time! I am publicly asking you to consider supporting my efforts as I continue to "INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITY - INVEST IN 55" so I may provide a conservative voice for you in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
I believe in the Reagan Golden Rule: "The Eleventh Commandment was a phrase used by President of the United States Ronald Reagan during his 1966 campaign for Governor of California. The Commandment reads: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican." However, I will fight against bills in the NC House that do not represent the views and well-being of the constituents of NC House District 55.
